The New England Patriots tied their best victory streak from the Tom Brady period as they beat division rivals the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football

The win extends the Patriots lead at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine wins and two defeats, with the New York at the foot after dropping to two wins and eight losses

The visitors had scored first at Gillette Stadium with quarterback Justin Fields running in a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's opening drive

But the New England answered in the second quarter as the rookie rushed for two seven-yard touchdowns before the ball carrier grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the back of the end zone in the middle of the third period to push the score to 21 to 7

"That was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been excellent for him to keep earning playing time," Maye said of Henderson. "He wants to be outstanding."

Fields connected with Metchie in the latter part of the third period to narrow the deficit for the visitors but Andy Borregales converted a two field goals in the fourth quarter as the Patriots sealed the triumph
